EH Pin-Sights - Party!

So happy with this little birthday card for the current Pin-Sights Challenge at Ellen Hutson.

I was inspired by the fun colours, birthday party theme and all the glorious white space!

Do you see a party hat? Nope. That's a Christmas tree with a flower on top. The border is a 3-berry stamp. Seriously. It's so much fun to look at your supplies and see how to use them in different ways!

I cut the solid 'tree' then ran it through my Big Shot with the Stitches Cover plate. I coloured stripes with Copics. I went through my inks to find colours to match, so that I could stamp the borders - Lawn Fawn Sunshine, Plastic Flamingo and Merman fit the bill. Finally I coloured a scrap of card with one of the copics and cut out the flower from that.

SPD MIU 33 - Celebrate

There are still a few days to play along with this month's SugarPea Designs Mix it Up Challenge!

As usual, I tried to combine the two inspiration pieces, but as usual didn't quite get the sketch exactly right! lol! I tried it with more balloons, but it just felt crowded and not 'me'.

I started by stamping the Striped Background onto a panel and then cut that with the stitched rectangle die from the Birthday Journal Card set (what a useful set of dies - so many good basics and birthday possibilities!) I then inlaid the stitched circle from Beautiful Bauble into that, and then inlaid the Celebrate die into the two of them. A little fussy, but not difficult. When I did all that inlaying,  I didn't put the 'top' of the rectangle die back on, which resulted in this fun shape. I finished the sentiment with a masked partial sentiment from Under the Weather.

Crafty Christmas Collaboration with Jessica

You will recall that this month, Jessica Frost-Balla is our Christmas-in-July Guest at Muse: ChristmasVisions (still time to play there, by the way!).

While we were planning to work together on that, Jessica invited me to be her Guest for this month's Crafty Christmas Collaboration

This is a fun feature that Jessica came up with to keep her making Christmas cards all year long. Jessica has some presents, too! Be sure to pop over to her post to see how you can win by playing along (she's got an all-year link-up)!

Each month, Jessica invites a guest to collaborate with her.  The idea is that we trade supplies and make cards using each other's supplies. That's the IDEA. Unfortunately for us, USPS and/or Canada Post had different plans, and Jessica's supplies still haven't arrived here in Toronto.

But we're superwomen, so we don't let little things like that bother us! We forged ahead with our projects using the supplies I chose.

You can see that I went heavy with Christmas Products from the Essentials by Ellen line. I've linked products below.

My first card has a classic, elegant feel. I used some super-sparkly embossing powder  to give this card some extra shine.

My second card is more graphic - I love the simplicity of this and the contrast between the black and white and the bold, bright red. These were cut from adhesive velvet paper - the feel is rich, luxurious and warm!

Thanks so much, Jessica for inviting me to be your guest!
